Automatic Loan Deferral

We understand that you may be facing unexpected financial challenges during these trying times. To help relieve the stress that may be associated with making your loan payments right now, we have implemented automatic one-month loan deferrals for qualified First Commerce loans. 

Automatic One-Month Loan Deferral for Qualified 
First Commerce Loans Due Between April 1-May 31

We have automatically extended the due date for qualified First Commerce loans (formerly Citizens Bank), including Auto and Boat Loans, Revolving Lines of Credit, and RVs with due dates between April 1 and May 31, 2020. 

This deferral applies for all non-real estate related consumer loans, including loans that were 30 days or fewer past due as of April 1. In most cases, depending on how you set up your payment, there is nothing you need to do for the automatic deferral to take place – we have taken care of everything for you. Please read on for specific details.

IMPORTANT: Automatic loan deferrals will not be applied to first mortgages, home equity/HELOC loans and business loans secured by real estate. In any of these situations, or if you need assistance for any reason, please contact us directly by calling 229.686.7444. 

As always, you have the choice to make your regular loan payment or additional payments at any time. Contactless and secure payments may be made through the new Video Teller Service in the drive-thrus at Nashville, Adel, Thomasville, and Valdosta locations. Or you can make your payment through Online Banking. If you are not currently enrolled, you can enroll easily from the Log In screen.

What You Need to Know About Your Automatic Loan Deferral

  • Effect on Loan Due Date. For loans with monthly due dates that fall between April 1 and May 31, the due date will be pushed to the same date(s) of the following month (e.g., for a loan with an upcoming due date of May 4, we will push the due date to June 4). 
  • Payment Drafted from a First Commerce Account. If you set up a recurring automatic loan payment, you will need to modify your transfer to start with the next due date through online banking or call us for assistance at 229.686.7444. 
  • Payment Drafted from Another Financial Institution. Contact that financial institution to request pausing your payment for one month. For security reasons, First Commerce is not able to request a pause in payments on your behalf with another financial institution. 


* Automatic Loan Deferral: Your loan maturity will be extended, and regular payments will resume after the deferred payment period. Finance charges will continue to accrue as outlined in your Loan Agreement during the deferment period. For consumer and business real estate-related loans, members must initiate the deferral process; please contact us at 229-686-7444 for assistance. Regular deferment fees will be waived.
